Time to wear camo…

It’s finally arrived… Scott’s favorite time of year …. hunting season… and now he doesn’t have to go far to hunt.

Scott has been working on two locations to ready his hunt. First a bear bait area all the way at the back of the mountain (note to bears… stay back there!) and a deer bait area just up from the house.

Scent of anise… reread that… I’m talking about the spice

Scott’s bear bait of choice is primarily cookies … yum! He bought a huge barrel full of cookies and then topped it off with vanilla extract and aniseed. It smells like a bakery back there! He worked on keeping the bait going for the past several weeks and the raccoons were thrilled. The bears on the other hand, were not impressed. The day after bear season closed for archery this fella found the bait barrel.

Close call… minor chest pain experienced by me after seeing the trail cam picture 😉 But y’all seriously look at the size of that thing. I’m gonna keel over if I see that thing by the house. Note to self.. add bear spray to the shopping list..

On to the deer area … it boasts a homemade feeder that is filled regularly with corn.

Opening morning of bow season Scott got himself a 16 pointer.

Taming needle eye mountain has this guy smiling from ear to ear. Still can’t believe that we are so blessed to live in the this beautiful area!

  1. Sweet! That looks kind of small for a BIG bear…
