Taming Needle Eye Mountain

You know the Arby’s quote.. **use your deep voice here** “we have the meat”…. Well Needle Eye Mountain’s quote may very well become “we have the heads”😂.

Seriously y’all. We spent the past week hanging up Scott’s pride and joy taxidermy and wow there are a lot of eyeballs looking back at us!

Scott had just enough salvaged lumber to finished out the rest of the barn wall. That’s 40 feet long by 14 foot high!!! He even got creative and built a bookcase in the wall.

So here is the progression of the addition of heads

We did a few truckloads from the storage building to our shed.

Things I learned.. do not under any circumstances touch the ears of taxidermy! The mounts are surprisingly light.. (except for the moose). You can use a hairbrush and pledge to spruce them up… especially the nose… Oh the things I’m learning..

See that big tall ladder? Yep we used that to hang them up. Except for the Moose!

The British Columbia Moose was 1,000lbs when Scott shot it. I swear each antler was at least 100 lbs and the mount is the size of a small car.. you know like the mini cars… so how do you hang up a head this big? You gotta break out the hoist method and use one heck of a lag bolt to hold it!

The almost done wall minus the bear rug. We can not find that mount amid all the boxes. I know it’s in one of our storage units … probably the last box we get too! So stay tuned for da’bears…
