We knew we had a lot of taming to do when we bought Needle Eye and the first step was getting an address. Somehow, even though folks have lived here for a long time, there was no physical address.
How did these people get their Amazon packages?
So how does one get an address? Figuring out that process was one of the first of the many “firsts” we would have on this journey.
Turns out, it’s the 911 department. Yep, 911 is who you call for a host of things and one of them is to obtain an address. The things you learn while taming a mountain. Once 911 gives you an address, then you have to call the local post office and then they have to get it processed at headquarters. Unlike the fast answer of a 911 phone call, this process took eight weeks.

Then you need to put up a mail box. Bonus points: Does anyone know how high your mailbox is supposed to be from the ground?
Midlothian folks might recognize that mail box. It was laying on the side of Montgomery Road for awhile until Scott threw it in the back of his truck. Little bit of spray paint, some new numbers, and voila’, we got ourselves a “good as new” mailbox and a spiffy address:
