My daughter currently refers to Needle Eye Mountain as “Trash Mountain.” After the machine shed episode, I’m thinking Rat Eye Mountain might be appropriate too.
In Kate’s defense, we do have a lot of clean up to do. Not only were the previous owners hoarders, but it appears that every other owner (and their families) before them used the land as a personal trash dump. Pretty much all the woods surrounding the house have piles of trash and junk.

We went on a “treasure” hunt for refrigerators in the woods and found eight. Thankfully the local recycling center took them. In addition to eight old fridges, we found: three dishwashers, two microwaves, at least 28 tires, doors, bathtubs, screens, windows, approximately 1.5 million soda cans, buckets, ice chests, shoes, hubcaps, an old couch, a toilet, rusty tools, a seed spreader, and lots of bottles and mason jars.

In fact, it inspired me to write a song. (Sing to the tune of “The 12 Days of Christmas,”
….On the Eighth Day of Clean Up, the Mountain gave to me, Eight broken fridges, Seven rusty screens, Six plastic buckets, Five million cans, Four rusty tools, Three dishwashers, Two microwaves, and a toilet under an oak tree….

Did you know you can recycle tires if you pay 3 bucks a tire first 4 we’re free. We had 28… and counting
