Baby it’s cold outside …but not too cold for a visit!
Had the pleasure of touring my Dad, Mom, Sister and her “more than just a boyfriend” life partner Sean around Needle Eye today. It was windy, 40 degrees cold, but clear sunny day! We toured the mountain, house, shed, barn and chicken coop and enjoyed lunch at top rock diner! Trish found some souvenirs… Sean…

Roofing the barn
Here’s what the barn looked like at the start. You can see there was no roof on this side and it needed new rafter boards and stabilizing before Scott could start with tin. Scott was able to salvage tin from a few of the goat sheds we torn down and had just enough to reroof…

It’s cozy inside… woot.. insulation complete in the shed-do-minimum

Another one bites the dust part 2
After a back breaking weekend of clearing out buckets and tearing down the shed we are at it again. So what do you do with all the remains from a shed? You burn it! But first you gotta haul it .. took 4 loads to get the discarded wood moved to a burn pile. We…

Taming Da’ Coop
It’s time to work on shoring up the chicken coop to get it ready for chickens! Scott worked on patching up all the places that had rotted wood and daylight was peaking in. The coop is built on a huge flat boulder so the floor is solid and secure. Hopefully this will keep any predators…

A Mecca of Mason Jars!
Scott continues to keep working on the barn and this time it was one of the inside stalls. After moving a bunch of barn wood, throwing out a lot of trash and yep… more buckets… he uncovered a treasure trove of mason jars and one unfortunate critter. Y’all I love mason jars! Scott said how…

Burning brush..
As we get closer to moving into the shed-o-minimum, we took some time to clear up some of the brush as you drive up the property. Scott chain sawed the trees around the back of the barn and around the chicken coop. And my job was to haul the limbs and then squirt stuff on…

Dirty laundry…look what treasure we found …
While exploring Needle Eye on a beautiful January afternoon we came upon yet another shed of sorts. Looks like this one may have been for housing animals and doing a bit of laundry… Scott stripped the tin off the roof and plans to use it inside his shop as wall paneling. We also found some…
