Time for the “rat shed” to get some more love:

You may remember the machine shed AKA the rat shed from previous posts (…. Short end of the story… a rat chased me out of there…thus the name). Well it’s time to get back to work on that place. Scott has begun the yucky job of rehabbing the old machine shed.

Machine shed

He is slowing tearing out the ceiling, side walls and eventually will put new seals, supports, and then tin on it. Planning to put up black tin to match the other buildings here on Needle Eye.

Can we talk about what is living in the walls… let’s starts with … ewww.

Yes those are termites…hundreds of them.

And the wasps!!! Nice big red ones have made their homeS (note the plural) in the walls!

Wasp down!

And then there’s the ceiling…

The ceiling tear down required a respirator and goggles. It was FULL of rat poop , a few dehydrated rats and of all things an ironing board!? Never know when you’ll need to iron in the rat shed!

He’s got the “eww” all out of the shed. Next up patch work and replacing seals and then side walls. We are gonna leave the rafters visible. We also need to figure out how to talk the wasps into a new home. They are swarming all around trying to find their next new nesting spot.

Stay tuned for the finished project.
