Eureka… we have water!

The process of drilling a well is fascinating. First off… the trucks and drilling equipment are huge.

And messy…

Nope… that’s not oil.. dang it
All the muck that comes up with the drilling…

And loud…. Sorry neighbors… and local birds and animals …

Video of the actual drilling.

Basically they drill down hundreds of feet until they hit the underground aquifers. Once they encounter groundwater they then set the pipe and well casing so it can keep dirt out of water and it can safely be brought to the surface. They have to make sure that it is deep enough to account for the rise and fall of water tables as the seasons change.

So the answer to our earlier BeeGees question… “how deep is your well?”….. after a full week of drilling we were at 750 feet… ended up at… 930 feet!!

Now… for water testing, softener and fingers crossed no sulphur smell…. won’t be able to cope with that and Scott…

Eureka… we are one step closer to taming Needle Eye Mountain
